shower pan checklist

before the shower pan can be installed the framing and plumbing must be completed.



  • The drain

check to make sure that it is properly installed and level .

you need to be able to stand on the drain if it's not supported the shower pan will break.


  • Framing

solid blocking is recommended 2"x10" blocking between the studs.

plywood or thick heavy gauge sheet metal can be used where there's plumbing.

DO NOT use rolled or thin sheet metal.

recommend building a curb that is four and a half inches high. Floors must be solid shouldn't flex and no large holes.

Plumbing box for the drain on concrete floors should be filled with gravel and 3 inches of concrete to make the floor solid around the drain


  • this process creates noticeable/strong odor
(completed or occupied houses )

smoke detectors may need to be removed.

if the bathroom doesn't have a door you may want to make a temporary one
